Ingredients
Scale
Fruits
- 4 cups fresh watermelon (cut into cubes)
- 8 fresh lemons
Sweetener
- 1/4 cup simple syrup (or liquid honey)
Liquids
- 4 cups water (or sparkling water)
Others
- Ice
- Lemon slices (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Watermelon: Chop the watermelon into 1-inch cubes, making sure to remove the peel and any large seeds for a smooth final drink.
- Juice the Lemons: Squeeze the lemons to extract fresh lemon juice, which will add the tartness to balance the sweetness of the watermelon.
- Blend Ingredients: In a blender, combine the watermelon cubes, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and honey or simple syrup. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth.
- Strain the Mixture: Pour the blended liquid through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl or pitcher to remove pulp and any remaining seeds, yielding about 4 cups of watermelon lemonade concentrate.
- Serve: To serve, mix equal parts of the watermelon lemonade concentrate with cold water (still or sparkling) in a pitcher with ice. Alternatively, pour 1/2 cup concentrate over ice in individual glasses and top with water or sparkling water. Garnish with lemon slices if desired.
Notes
- You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less simple syrup or honey according to your taste.
- Using sparkling water gives the lemonade a delightful fizz, but still water works perfectly as well.
- For a colder drink, chill the watermelon cubes before blending.
- Ensure to strain well to avoid pulp or seeds in the final drink.
- This drink is best consumed fresh but can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
